Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
NHS prescription costs
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please order you repeat prescriptions by post, using the online form on this page, or in person. You can tick the items you require on the right hand side of your prescription or write out your request yourself (please ensure you name your medication). If you enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope we will post it back to you. Please allow three working days from receipt of your request before collecting it. Please make allowances for weekends and bank holidays.
We do not take repeat prescriptions requests over the telephone. Please note that there may be times when the doctor will wish to see you before issuing further repeat prescriptions.
Please allow 3 days, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
