Welcome to Park Avenue Medical Centre
The practice was started in 1899 at 5 East Park Parade with two doctors in partnership. The practice gradually expanded and by 1969 there were four partners. New larger premises at 168 Park Avenue North were purchased in 1970.
After a further period of expansion, the adjoining property at 166 Park Avenue North was also purchased. The new properties were converted and extended to form today’s surgery which now houses two partners and a large primary health care team.
We aim to provide our patients with the best possible personal care. We provide a wide range of services and health checks. All doctors provide family planning (including emergency contraception), maternity care and child health surveillance. Dr Nagarajan provides a weekly clinic for minor surgery procedures.
Surgeries are run on an appointment basis and can be booked up to 1 week in advance. Emergencies are seen on the same day using our triage system. Doctors will visit at housebound patients at home and other home visits will be carried out when medically appropriate.
The Government have paid for our reception staff to be trained to "navigate" you to the most appropriate service or clinician, this may be a GP, Nurse Practitioner, Health Care Assistant, or other NHS services and to do this they will want more information from you.
How it works:
Call the surgery to make your appointment
You will be asked by our trained receptionists as to what your appointment is for and they will navigate you to the person most suited to treat your problem or answer your query, it may not always be necessary for you to see a GP in the first instance.
If your problem is urgent you may be offered an appointment on the day or a skilled specialist practitioner will call you back to discuss your problem. This service will run from 8.00am until 11.00am and from 2.00pm and 5.00pm (urgent medical advice outside of these times can be obtained from NHS 111)
The practitioners may be able to help you over the telephone but if they need you to come into the surgery to be seen, they can make an appointment for you. You may be offered an appointment in the future at either surgery.
Routine Nurse or GP appointments shall be available 2 or 5 days in advance.health
